Lontong Sayur Padang
Lontong Sayur Padang, it’s supposed to be Ketupat Sayur Padang, but we don’t have the access for the wrapping ingredient. Ketupat and lontong are very similar. Both are rice cakes and made from rice; the only different is the wrapping material. While ketupat is wrapped in janur (young palm leaves), lontong is wrapped banana leaves.
It consists gulai cubadak (green jackfruit and shrimp in curry soup), beef rendang(beef in dry curry sauce), eggs balado (hard boiled eggs in balado sambal),sambal lado mudo (green chilli sambal).

Nasi Bakmoy
Nasi Bakmoy, another popular Chinese-Indonesian food among the Indonesians. It is an inter cultural dish between the Chinese and Javanese. ,the word ‘bakmoy’ came from “Bah Mui” using pork as the star ingredient. Once was said that the recipe creator was a Chinese man that came from Fujian , China who migrated to Jogjakarta and married to a balinese woman. One day, as a Chinese immigrant in a strange country with limited Chinese food availability, he missed braised pork rice (LU ROU FAN/卤肉饭) , the wife with zero knowledge of cooking Chinese food tried hard to duplicate the dish and incorporate local ingredients such as petis udang (fermented shrimp paste) and kecap manis (sweet soya sauce). From that moment on, the dish was spread from mouth to mouth.
In my hometown, Surabaya, East Java you would find nasi bakmoy easily with non-fried firm tofu (the original nasi bakmoy has deep fried tofu) , serve with fried prawn cake and sambal petis.

This Pastel Tutup is a typical Indonesian dish that has its influence from both Chinese and Dutch food, some eat as snack, others as meal.
The usual potato gratin uses scallop potatoes layering the top, but we use creamy mashed pototes layered at the top of the dish covering a layer of hard boiled egg slices that cover delicious creamy filling from chicken, carrot, black mushroom, clear noodle, peas immersed in their delicious broth.
